Mama works a lot with the philosophical direction of The Magic of African Rhythm.  She coordinates all the Ngoma (multi/interdisciplinary) elements into the whole cultural art experience you see in the culminating program.  The oral arts (storytelling, etc.) are her working components within the residency structure.

 

Storytelling: Maisha (Mama) Shabu has been telling stories and teaching children to use their imagination when learning important life lessons for over two decades.


Musician: Maisha is a trained musician  and through vocals, instruments, and one’s own inner rhythm, Maisha teaches students how to access their creative gifts.


Books: Maisha is currently publishing a book with Baba Shabu. “Kpawo- The bridge, how to re-connect with your African spirit.
