Mabinti grew up in the Shabu family performance ensemble, Ngoma Sasa.   She studied traditional Guinean, Liberian, and Malian Music and Dance at a young age.  Her artistic range includes the Bala and Ngoni instruments as well.  AND she drums!


 

Drumming: Mabinti is a Master djembe player and teacher with experience performing with Valerie Naranjo, The African American Dance Ensemble, and many more!


Dance: Mabinti has been dancing all of her life, touring and performing with dance companies in NYC and abroad. Mabinti currently teaches and choreographs with Ethyln Lassiter dance ensemble as well as teaching dance classes in Raleigh and Durham NC.


Bala/Ngoni: Mabinti is  a master Balafon and Ngoni player. She is currently recording the Balankora album.
