Balankora

A powerhouse Performance Group featuring Various Melodic Instrumentation, Drumming, and Dance from West Africa. This intimate experience provides our audiences with a private view into Traditional African Melody, Movement, and Rhythm. Audiences walk into the performance area serenaded by a traditional instrument. As they take their seats, they begin to feel a sense of peace and serenity.

The performance begins with song, quickly flowing into Rhythm and movement as each artist gets an opportunity to share their particular skill with the audience. We flow into melody, Telling stories about the instruments we play, sharing greetings and phrases in some of the languages we speak, giving our audiences a more in depth look into the creation of the instruments. After learning some farewell greetings, We close our time together with a wonderful example of the African Village…The Bantaba…or “Grounds Of Participation” where selected Audience members have an opportunity to come on stage and share with us.
